Legislative Issues Overview

Mission

The Renewable Energy Markets Association (REMA) is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to maintaining and growing a strong voluntary market for renewable energy in the United States. We monitor and provide input to legislation and policy activities across the country at the federal and state levels to promote the growth of our industry.

Activities

REMA‘s work on behalf of its members focuses on education and advocacy, with the voluntary market always at the core of our work. Our efforts include:

  • Legislative outreach to the US Congress and state legislatures;
  • Regulatory & Executive Branch Outreach at the state and federal levels, as well with regional climate legislation;
  • Industry outreach to trade allies and other invested parties.

Priorities and Initiatives

Our policy initiatives include efforts in the following key areas:

  • Federal Renewable Electricity Standard (more info)
  • Federal Agency Outreach (EPA, FTC)
  • State and Regional Initiatives (WCI, RGGI, MGGRA, CARB)
  • Protocols, Registries, and Standards (Climate Registry, LEED Building Standards, OTC derivatives)
